I wish I lived closer because I would definitely be at this event. Southern States Dachshund Rescue is going to have a table there. I hope this event raises awareness.

Since the Oprah show (not sure if it is coincidence or not) many of the backyard breeders have been surrendering doxies either to shelters or rescues. One called and had 24 with two of them with 2 week old babies I believe and one shelter got 36 or so in. I hope it continues to cause them to get out of the business.

Let us all know how it goes Mike.

Since I can't be there, I bought a shirt to help. My Anna is a puppy mill girl, so this is a subject dear to my heart. God bless them!

Well DUH! I guess I need to adjust my reading glasses! Maybe it's all the Freddie slobber on them that has me confused!

Well we went to "Bark heard around the world" today!!
It was AWESOME!!! There were so many people there. They had a great turn out for their first time in our area.
There were alot of booths set up selling items that supported Rescues.
We got to chat with the people running the SSDR booth. They had some Doxies there looking for forever homes.God they were cute!! I wish we could give them all homes.
There were several other breeds there also looking for that special family to take them home.
There was a group of guys there called "Rescue Ink" if you were to see these guys you would think..I think I will stay clear of them guys..lol These were some big dudes with tattoos all over..a couple of them had shaved heads and tattoos covering almost their whole face and head...and both arms. They look like a rough crowd but that couldnt be further from the truth. They were awesome guys with big hearts that travel all over pushing the public to rescue.
They go to houses that are known to be abusing their dogs or neglecting them and they tell them Either give us your dogs or we will call the ASPCA> The one guy siad most of the people will turn over their dogs because they dont want these guys standing on their porch..lol
These guys say its a honor to be able to rescue dogs. They almost dont want to hear thank you for what they are doing..they look at it more like it was their calling to do it.
We were about half way back in the crowd and I was holding Katie (our rescue) well the biggest guy in Rescue Ink pointed at me..I looked at him and said me? He said yes..come to the front..so I did and he took Katie and held her up for pictures to be taken with all the guys from his rescue. Then he said come here and he put his arm around my shoulder and said "we are all in this together"..all I can say is these guys are just a God send.If you get a chance check them out here..http://www.rescueink.org/
They had some speakers there that were informing people what goes on in these puppy mills and what they can do to help shut them down.
Ohhh...there also was some great food booths!!!..lol
All in all it was great and I cant wait for next year.We signed up to help at the next event!!
I have some neat bumper stickers if any of you are interested just shoot me a PM and I will mail them to you.
sorry this is so long I could go on and on.It felt so good to be there..all the people were so nice and most people took there family dog along. It was sure nice to be around a group of people that were so nice.It was great to see there are some great loving people left in this world.
I will have some pics soon.
Thanks
Mike
