New Question about Adopting Dixie’s Dad
Tags:No tags
I adopted Dixie 4 months ago, she was just turning 2 at the time so she spent a good amount of time at the breeders home. Cash, her father, is 3 years old. Do you think (I know this sounds cheesy) that they will remember each other?

I feel that they will remember each other. It will probably be like a reunion with a little sniffing and a lot of kissing up!

When i went home over christmas break Oscar got to see our old roommates dog, Im not sure if he remembered her, but they acted like they did and got along just fine. I dont know how he would act if the dog was in our apt, maybe if you had them meet on neutral territory first so they can get remember each other that would help. I know Oscar is very protective of our house.
i say go for it. I know my two doxies would be lost without each other. They love to play together and get along just fine. Of course Oscar is he dominant one, but he never hurts Olivia he just likes to run the show!

We helped a friend adopt Brownie’s brother. They hadn’t seen each other in 3 years but we wanted to believe that they remembered each other. I reall don’t think it matters much because whether they recognize each other or not, they will become insparable like Oscar and Olivia. Annabel and Brownie hit it off from the first moments of being together and we have had, in the year (almost) that we have had him, one a few SERIOUS scraps and those only lasted a few seconds. The problem is mainly when Annabel’s precious daddy comes home and Brownie gets to him first. I would be sure to give Dixie clear clues that she was your first puppy and that while her daddy is a bit older age doesn’t mean as much as alpha status. So long as Annabel knows she came first and we haven’t forgotten all is fine. She is the only one of the two that sleeps in the bed with us because Brownie came crate trained.
I SAY GO FOR IT!!!!

I dont know if they will remember each other, but having them meet on nuetral territory is a good idea. When we adopted Fiona we did that and they get along great. They are now inseprable and the best of friends.
