I noticed on Coco Puffs pedigree that his mother is also the mother of his father. Is this a normal breeding practice to breed mother to son? Or father to daughter?
I dont understand about Kentucky,Please enlighten me,if it’s likely to upset someone, pm me.I don’t always understand what you folk from acrooss “the pond” as some of you misunderstand me at times.
Yeah, here it’s a joke about Sand Mountain! This is a very funny thing indeed. Oh, and to answer your question… yes this is normal. We may think it is quite strange, but quite a few breeders do this. There is a thread on it right now that will truly enlighten you as it did me, on this subject!
The breeder I bought my last pup from said it’s better if you breed like a grandparent to a grandchild. I don’t think it’s wrong, there are many breeder who do in-line breeding, but I think you have to be a little careful It sounds kind of strange, but unless we’re talking humans I think you’re okay
this is in part how you get certain traits to be maintained quickly etc., but there really isn’t any reason to do this given the millions of dachshunds that are out there, and it can lead to genetic disorders. . just like it does in humans. .
Thanks everyone for your freindly input on the subject. It is scary to be new at something and not know things. You have all put me at ease about Coco’s pedigree.

This Question has been mentioned before on another blog or thread but I can’t remember off hand what the reply was.
Try looking in the breeding forum.

RHODAP some of the “southern” states (Kentucky, Arkansas, West Virginia, etc.) have jokes about the people from them being “inbread”.
