Where does your doxie sleep?
Hi, my name is Victor and still fairly new to this site. Flash is our smooth, I think, cream, (because he has been getting darker) mini.
Flash is suppose to sleep in his kennel in his playpen next to our bed. We have let him sleep in our bed a few times when we went on vacation or when we stayed at my parents house. Now he always wants to sleep in the bed. We would rather have him sleep in his playpen. When it’s time to sleep he barks and jumps to try to get out. He has just recently learn how to climb out of his playpen (will post some funny pix later). He’s a strong little guy. We try not to give him and let him wear himself out, but sometimes we can’t and let him on our bed. I know we’re not being consistent, but sometimes he’s irresistable.
So…where does your doxie sleep?

Don’t cave in! thanks to hubby, Annabel sleeps with us in our bed and now that she’s a 25 pound 2 year old bed hog - he’s sorry for having caved when she was a baby! brownie came to us crate trained and even when he sleeps outside the crate it is on the footstool at the foot of the big bed.

I took Rhuari into bed with me from the start,I placed a puppy pad on the bed with a piece of doggie thick bedding on top and he’d alert me to when he wanted out or was hungry as I work nights and sleep during the day, part of the week.It worked very well.
Now most nights he sleeps on the floor on his bean bag at the side of the bed, either here or at my Mum’s, unless it’s cold and he comes into my bed.
Rhuari is only 10/11lbs so doesn’t take up much room

Sunny & Daisy sleep with us. Sunny usually sleeps under one of our pillows (don’t know how he can breath) but he loves it. Daisy just curls up right beside one of us under the blankets.

I have a Springer and Zoe my dachsie. My Springer is 55 pounds and both sleep on the bed with us. We have no problem doing this. Sometimes my Springer gets off the bed because he gets uncomfortable with everyone but we love having them sleep with us. It is up to your preference. Everyone has their own way of thinking about whethter they should sleep with you or not. I don’t think there is a right or wrong.

I start with all 7 dachsies in the bed and some end up wanting down after 4 hours. Because of the lack of space on my king bed, they all jockey for position around my head. The older ones prefer the crates in my room. It used to be 8 wieenies and a 175 Tundra Wolf!

A ramp would be a great idea if you do decide to have them sleep with you though.

My two have always slept with me. Neither has ever had an accident on my bed. We all love to snuggle.

Roxy has slept with us since the night we brought her home at a whopping 1.5 pounds. I was so scared all night I would roll over her that I woke up about every 30 minutes to make sure she was ok. I was advised I shouldn’t do this but I couldn’t bear her sad little whimpers when I put her in her kennel. Now at 6 months old and weighing 6 pounds she still sleeps with us. She usually starts out curled up next to me, she’s a spooner lol, and ends up under the covers at the very end of the bed, or next to me with her head on my pillow. It’s really up to you what you want his sleeping arrangments to be, but I agree with other posts about not caving in if you want him to sleep in his own bed.

My hubby and I sleep each night with a partition on 4 doxies between us. We started our first 2 doxies sleeping in the crate until Daphne was sick one night and we let her sleep with us. Oh coarse we couldn’t leave Norman in the crate by himself, so he joined us also. They’ve never spent a night in their crate since. Then when we got Lucy and Abby we just let them sleep with us from the start. They never jump off the bed in the middle of the night and they sleep through the night without needing out to potty. Thanks to our 4 dachshund furnaces, we have been able to turn our heat down 6 degrees at bedtime! They all have their designated spots on the bed. Lucy spoons with me, Abby spoons with her daddy, Norman sleeps at leg level and Daphne sleeps by my feet. And just think, we only have a full sized bed!

Ruckus and Rowdie sleep with us thanks to my hubby. Although now that the dogs keep us separated in the bed, I think he regrets that decision.
Zipper and Gracen sleep in a crate together. I’m not going to do anything to change that!

Coco Puff sleeps with us on my side of the bed. He loves to burrow under the covers and snuggle up to my belly.

My two girls definitely love sleeping in our bed and we enjoy having them there. They sleep at the bottom of the bed next to each other under the covers and you really do wonder how they can possibly be able to breath under there! We have never had any accidents either because when they start walking up from the bottom of the bed we ask them if they have to go potty and if they do they will actually lick our face to answer yes! They are just amazing about that!
