We can't wait to see him either. You are going to be such great parents....getting all this information so early. Picking out a crate is important. Get one with a divider that can be moved back as Pepperoni grows. This will save you big $$$. At first, while training, keep his access area in the crate small. It should be big enough for him to turn around in an stretch out, but not roam. If it is too big he will sleep in one part and pee in the back corner, which defeats the purpose of crate training, and is a difficult habit to break. Oh, and don't forget the hanging water bottle! All dachshunds need constant access to water!

Welcome Maria! I can't help you a bit about the crate training but surely someone here on the blog has expert advice. As for the house training - contact Rhuari and Chase's mum Rhona, she's the unofficial house training expert on the blog. Rhona has an article she wrote with helpful hints that she'll glady send out to you.

Can't wait to see pix of your Pepperoni! We used to see a doxie pal in the dog run named Pepperoni! He was sooo much fun to play with!

Your new pals, Annabel and Brownie and their hooman pet Laura
