Louie is off to the vet
Well Louie’s diarrhea has continued, this is day three now. I thought yesterday he was done because he didn’t have any, and I had been feeding him white rice with just a tiny portion of hamburger mixed in. I made sure every ounce of grease was out of the hamburger too. This morning when I got home from work, he went outside and had a huge diarrhea outburst, and I mean huge. I brought a sample to the vet, they called a bit ago. Louie has a large bacterial infection in his intestinal tract:((( They are making me take him in to be seen, they want to check for things like dehydration, temp, which are all things I’m perfectly capable of doing myself, and things I’ve already been checking. Their reply was I’m a people nurse, not a animal nurse, but I suppose for liablity reasons they need to see him first. He will be on a antibiotic for sure, but will know more once I get done at the vet. I’m sure he will have to be on some special diet for awhile until he’s better:( I can’t think of anything he has eaten that the others haven’t gotten? Louie is NOT one to eat anything outside, at least I’ve never, ever seen him eat anything outside. My hubby made game hens on Monday night, and this is when Louie’s diarrhea began, on Monday night after eating some of this meat mixed in with his food. Leo also got this same meat and so far he’s been fine. Maybe Louie got some meat that was too close to the bone, and this meat wasn’t cooked enough, I just don’t know. The vet said he’s older now, and food he once was able to eat without problem, he may start having problems with certain foods?? He’s not that old, he will be 7 in February?? Oh well, what can you do but get them healthy again. Maybe Louie is just nervous because of Marley’s first show tomorrow:)))) I will keep everyone posted on what the vet says:)

Baxter and I know all too well what diarrhea can do to a doxie! We are hoping that Louie gets back to his old self quickly! I am sure your vet will have him good as new in no time! Get well Louie!!!

Well hopefully once Louis see’s the vet and gets some meds he will be back to his own wonderful self!
And I agree with the VET - you’re a people nurse NOT a doxie nurse!
