Happy St Nicholas’ Day!
Last night Mum helped us put our food bowls by the conservatory door (it should have been shoes… but hey… what dachsie wears shoes?), plus some carrots for the donkey. Why, I hear you ask? St Nicholas comes on the night of the 5th/6th December and gives small gifts to those children who have been good all year. He has a donkey to carry all the presents, so its nice for the donkey to have some treats too.
And…. yes….. we all got treats! And best of all……. we got a couple of Bobos!!!! Our very own! (I have a sneaking suspicion that they may have come all the way via the USA……) Even Hughie got treats and I have allowed him to play with one of the Bobos…. well even I can’t carry them both at the same time, as I am such a little chap…..
We all hope that St Nicholas came to visit you too….. but only if you have been a very good dachsie.

I knew before even looking that Harry and Jutta had posted this blog!
Saint Nicholas visits this house too what with the original owners being of Dutch descent and all!
Mommy left out her wooden shoes (yes she has a pair) and let up help put the carrots in for Saint Nicholas’ white horse. It was fun and we even got to eat some of the baby carrots!
Woo Hoo! Happy day!
ENJOY your Bobo’s! Mum must have given in to all our pressure!

What good dachshies you must have been! You should be very proud of your behavior this past year. I am of Dutch Decent and we put our tree up on Dec. 4th in anticipation of Sinterklaas. I place my 100 year old wooden shoes under the tree. (LOL, I am not 100,the shoes have been passed down many times) In them I place a carrot and a bit of straw for Schimmel, Sinterklaas’ white steed. I also leave a ginger cookie, these are said to be a favorite of Sinterklaas.
My shoes remain empty this morning. So Harry, you must have been very very good this year. Can you give me any advice on how to be better behaved??
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Oh Harry, we are so glad St. Nicholas brought you the Bobos. Have lots of fun with then. Using dishes instead of shoes or stockings is a good idea. We’re going to tell mommy to do that for us next year. Mommy is of German descent, so St. Nick comes here and we got some yummy treats in our stockings. Sure would be easier to get them out of a dish. Mommy must have been pretty good too cuz she got candy in her stocking at her office.
Good thing we didn’t see Knecht Rupprecht or we would have bitten him too!!!
