well its 9 am Sunday and no labor yet………………………..
she did develop this unplesant odor last night, kinda smells like urine? anybody know anything about that? today she is still restless and looks and acts tired. poor girl I know she’ll be glad when this is over and the pups are here. Keep your paws crossed

I think I would call the vet and ask about the urine smell. Even an emergency vet should be able to answer the question over the phone if no regular vets are open today. Has there been any fluids passed? Is her temp down to 98 or so? Does she seem to be in distress at all? Are you sure labor hasn’t started? No contractions, groaning or pushing? Does she whine loudly on occasion?
Sorry so many questions but just trying to judge by my limited experience (only 4 litters to the FrostyDachs line so far.
) and give some helpful advice/support.
Amanda was pretty wrestless and gave a few sharp whines during the day on Friday the 27th of Dec. then started birthing around 2:30 am Sat morning. Hope all goes well for you and your momma dog! Keep us posted.

katie is asleep behind her daddys knees on the couch, she had a little piece of bacon before her nap and has shown no signs of discomfort, no drainage, no nothing. her temp has fluctuated between 99 - 101 the past two days. she still has an apetite but just looks so sleepy.
Frosty Dachs, thanks for the support. makes me wish I mmade more of an effort to get to know the people not just read the doxie stories. I feel surtain I’ll be in the chat room when things start, hope there is someone else there to talk to

I don’t go into the chat room much myself since you have to stay on the main page to be in there and I navigate around the site all the time when I am on. I usually click on a blog or forum post before logging in just so it won’t auto-log me into the chat just to have me pop off again. However, if you pm me when the time comes I will be glad to pop on to chat if I come on during the time she is in labor. Again, good luck and keep us posted.

She may have passed urine accidentally as the pups will be pressing on her bladder and kicking.
As long as there is no dark smelly discharge from her vulva it is just a waiting game.
When are the pups due???
I am usually in Chat in the evenings if you want to ask anything, I was with Doxielover last Monday when her dog was delivering it’s puppies.
It’s becoming a regular thing lately.
She will start scraping at her bed as the time gets near,thats her way of dealing with the pain and they can vomit too which is normal, the contractions will start and she will start looking round at her back end when the pups start delivering.

Rhona, you weren’t there for me last night! I had lots of company though and awesome help when going through Squeak’s delivery. I agree with Rhona that she may have just leaked some urine. Keep checking her temp. Check it three times a day if you want. Squeak’s temp stayed at 99 from Friday night until she delivered on Saturday evening.
