My beautiful Marie
Hi. I just want to update on My beautiful Gretel Marie. Yesterday Gretel had a great day, not to be fooled, she still needs the surgery, but she is getting up and prancing around like a only a Dachshund does. God I love her.
Off topic for a minute. I was always believing that Gretel was a Piebald, but after being on here I am not so sure. Gretels colors are mainly white with patches of black, tan and what looks to be silver/gray and she has the most beautiful blue eyes. She has the double blue (I forget what that is called). Can someone tell me what her coloring would be called?
Lastly, I want to give a special thank you to Jester and Snuggles for being so kind and going out of their way to get information for me. As I have told them I am really going through a very hard time right now. My 14 year old has attempted suicide on Tuesday and is in the hospital (not 1st time), my grandmother just passed away and I am going to funeral today. I want to thank anyone ahead of time in case I do not get back to you right away.

Aww, you’re welcome.
So sorry to hear about your grandmother and your child, as well. We will keep you in our pawyers and also keep looking for information for Gretel. I believe Gretel is a black and tan in color, double dapple in pattern. Jester looks just like her but in chocolate, grey-dun and white, with long hair rather than wire. He’s a choc n tan double dapple. It is my understanding that piebalds cannot ever have blue eyes; and Gretel’s dappling (transverse) of black speckles on a grey/silver ground is clear; and all the white in this pattern, with these dapples too, usually points to a double, especially with the 2 blue eyes. Hi Erin,
If both of Gretel’s parents are dapple, then she is a double dapple.If one of the parents is a dapple, she is dapple. A pie looks something like a beagles markings-mostly white with blots of 2 or 3 colors and “ticking” (little black or brown spots). Pie is a recessive trait, so her parents may or may not be pie. Hope things are better for you soon .
