Back Problems

My poor little doxie, Lunar, has a problem. I had to take him to the hospital today and they told me that he has back problems. I’ll be following doctor’s orders about carrying him, watching his diet, etc. Is there anything else I can do? Someone mentioned to me a Holistic way of helping him. Does any one know anything about this. I also want to thank everyone for helping me out after Hurricane Katrina. Due to your help and information I was able to get my 2 doxies up north to my daughters’ until I was able to join them. We were reunited in Pawcatuck, CT. Unfortunately it was a long cold year with my daughter, her boyfriend and a friend. I have returned to the south, I have a wonderful little mobile home in Ocala and my pups and I are VERY glad to have a place of our own out of the cold.

So if anyone can give me any information on other things I can do to help Lunar I would appreciate. They tell me he could be paralyzed if I’m not real careful and I will be. He will be 6 in June, he’s a dark red male mini, weight right now is 14 lbs.

We all thank you
Lunar, Venus and Sue

I have heard great things about Missing Link, My down Doxie Speedy is on it and it has been recommended that I put all of my doxies on it as well…I have heard this from several people who have had doxies with back problems and doxies who have recovered from injuries of the back. Most important is diet and exercise…a fat doxie is just a accident waiting to happen…and I have delt with my doxie Kenns weight issues for awhile now. Make sure you do not allow him to jump on and off funiture (steps or a ramp would be good to get) GOOD LUCK!!

Do not give up. I have been told to put BJ down he will never walk again. So what I get him what he needs and gives me what I need. The only difference is now we are both handicapped. Remember, lots of talking and actually explainning everything as a new adventure like taking a car trip cross country. Keep telling him he is doing good, then he will keep being good. They take our moods from us. Make it a good deal when he tries something!
