The rescue run..a success
Well, Smokey is actually letting me write this as it was MY adventure after all. My friend Ardith went along with me (she has 3 cats, but I’m turning her into a dachsie person, too), and after a nice foggy ride we arrived at our meeting point early. I called the gal meeting us and she said she was running late, so we went to the nearby Farm and Fleet store. Left them a tidy sum, lol. Tammy caled while we were there so we rushed back to the meeting spot. And there they were with little Kamea (Kah-may-ah). What a precious love! She was not a badly off as we were lead to beleive. She could wobble walk quite well, has full controll of bowels and bladder and her waggy tail. When she went down her owners took her to the vet to be euthanized. Thank goodness he talked them into surrendering her to a shelter group in Iowa where he knew she could get help. She’s only 3!
Our drive with here was less than 45 minutes and she laid on Ardith’s lap the whole time and went to sleep as sweet as could be. Oh, she’s a back and tan smooth mini. Smokey and Anna sent some of their Buddy Bones treats along to share. The drive was over all to soon, and we passed her on to her new foster family. We all think with acupuncture and water therapy she will soon be as good as new again. This was an effort of the Dachshund Recue of North America, so maybe you will see her on their website soon. LAter in the afternoon Ardith was feeling weepy, and decided it was because she missed the soft, warm little girl on her lap.
More happened, but I’ll let Smokey dictate that later. All in all, a really good day for all!
