Belle and Blaze’s Obedience Trial
Belle and Blaze had their obedience trials Friday and Saturday. It was a wonderful experience for them and us, and we were very impressed by all the amazing and talented dogs that were there. Belle and Blaze were in the beginner group, and it was a good group. They did very well, considering it was our, and their first time in any competition. We both had trouble in different areas which cost us points, and I think Tim and I were the main cause of Belle and Blaze being so nervous. At the end of the day however, Belle had 2 seconds and Blaze had 2 thirds!

Saturday was even better. We were all much more relaxed and decided to enjoy the day. Whatever we did worked, because Blaze took first, and Belle took second again.)))) The judges, who are AKC obedience judges, were very nice and gave us both some really good tips for next time. They will be in Nassau in January and we could be ready for novice or rally, if we keep up on the training! They also loved Belle and Blaze and said they were the happiest dogs at the competition.
We have alot of work to do to be ready for bigger and more advanced levels in competition. We really are enjoying this, and so are Belle and Blaze. They like the training as well as socializing with the other dogs in the class. We only have one question…….why is it that our obedience champions listen so well in the ring, but not so well at home????? Must be a dachshund thing, hehe.

Would you LOOK at all those ribbons? What a wonderful showing for Belle and Blaze. I am not exactly surprised though - they ARE doxiepets after all!!!!

We’re going to switch handlers for a while, Tim will take Belle and I will take Blaze, to see if that helps.

Good going Belle and Blaze, and of course mom and dad:))) I bet once you relaxed and just enjoyed the time, things went a lot more smooth, but it’s hard not to be nervous:))) It sounds like a lot of fun to me, have thought of getting Riley into something like that, but he might be more of an agility dachsie:)))) Keep up the good work and give those dachsies a big congrats from me:)))
