Puppy Mill?

Here I was spending some down time enjoying doxie puppy pictures when I came across a breeder who had lovely wire puppies. Right in the middle of all the pictures was a piebald wirehare male - 5 years old - for free. Why would a reputable breeder GIVE away a beautiful wirehair? I called and they were less than friendly or even forthcoming on info. I was told that he has sired pups and now they have had him neutered. He is not housebroken as he is a “kennel dog.” So horrible thoughts are going through my mind. Has he had any kind of life outside of that kennel? What exactly does that mean? I just want to hop right in my car and drive the 6 hours to get him. Poor little guy. Anybody have any insight?

What does neutering have to do with giving him up?
Sounds like in their opinion he has no value to them anymore so why keep him… They sound questionable at the very least to me.
I guess if he can’t make money for them what is the point!!! And you are right what is a beautiful doxie doing outside in a kennel? Poor little guy… I say go get him!!!

I hate to think what those lonely 5 years have been like for that poor little guy. It sounds like he has been kept outside his whole life with no hugs or kisses whatsoever.
Grrrr! These kinds of breeders make me so mad!
Rescue him if you can and let him know what a loving home feels like.

This is the kind of thing that happens more times than we care to imagine. The puppy breeding business is not all rolly polly babies and sunshine. This is the very thing I have talked about recently in other posts.

This is also why it is important NOT to buy from high volume breeders. They are only in this to make money and when the money can not be made from a doxie, they do not care what happens to them. Very very sad reality.

    Where is he?

    He is in Southern Oregon.
