Rottweiler Kills Dachshund

Hello everyone,

Someone may have posted this story earlier. Such a sad story. The thought of this happening to my doxie just sickens me. What a truly horrific day for the owner of this poor Dachshund.

   I just read the article, I am so upset… I cried reading the story because all I could think about was how terrified that poor doxie must have been and how he suffered!!!
   I think there needs to be a tighter law on dog parks also, one can not assume that all dogs are friendly, all dogs must be approached with caution. I would cry day and nite if that was my Oscar.

   Our local park separates small dogs and large dogs into their own areas. Smaller dogs may enter the large dog area (at their own risk), but large dogs absolutely may not enter the small dog area. I think it works out pretty well. I never allow Yorky into the big dog area. Unfortunately some of these big guys think a dachshund is prey.

   A few weeks ago April almost got run over because of an unleashed Rottweiler in our development. This guy has a - fortunately - very friendly dog that he constantly walks to the mailbox without a leash. Well, I was walking Blixa and April in his court one morning and his dog comes bounding over to us. April got so upset that she pulled completely out of her harness and ran across a 4-lane road! Fortunately, a woman stopped her car, kicked off her sandles, and chased her down. I had the guy sited on two different violations which made him pay a hefty fine. Hope he’s learned his lesson.

   I just watched/listened to the video of this horrible incident. What keeps going thru my mind is they said the owner of the doxie was not in the area when the attack occurred. Where was mama & dad?? Never ever leave your little baby anywhere without anyone keeping an eye on them. RIP little angel
