biting liability
I had to start a new topic because my responses don’t show up. I would put some type of barrier on your side of the fence. Whether that mean some wire mesh over the decorative block or even a whole fence of your own on your side. I don’t know what the actual liability laws are but a dog who bites is not to be taken lightly even if he is small.
I had a dog who had to be put down due to aggression, he had bitten two children on two seperate occasions. the first occasion needed stitches, the second didn’t get stitches but it was still a nasty wound. Both instances occured on my property but fortunatelty the parents did not sue me. Believe me, lawsuit or no lawsuit, you don’t want to be in a position to be carrying a bleeding child home to his/her parents and explaining that your dog injured their child. It is a horrible feeling. Because of the claim for medical expenses from the first incident, we lost our homeowners insurance. Because our dog was 90lbs and could have killed someone and both attacks while on our property were unprovoked (by our standards obviously not by his) We felt that we had no choice but to have him put down. That is not a decision you want to ever have to make. I still sometimes feel guilty about it and think that I should have found another alternative but I couldn’t find one at the time. I am sorry if this is long and rambling but I want to encourage you to do whatever is neccesary to avoid a potentialy bad situation. It doesn’t matter that the girl shouldn’t be sticking her arm through the fence, the reality is that she is and will continue to do so. You will have to take steps to protect yourself and Zuke. We don’t want to see anything happen to him. Good Luck
