Rocky’s Visit to the Vet
Rocky was such a good boy at the vet. He weighed in at 22 pounds and they’re putting him on Weight Watchers!!! He is getting a customized diet plan with day by day meals and treats listed. They want him to eat 3 small meals a day - the only thing I’m not wild about is that it’s a Purina Food called Purina O/M. The tech who does the diet plans doesn’t work til Monday so I have til then to decide if we’re gonna do it or not. I suppose we could feed this food until he loses the weight and then go back to Flint River or Chicken Soup. Dr. Carlson wants him to lose 5 POUNDS! OMG - thats 20% of his body weight!
In other news, she lanced the bump on his back to see if there was something in it, and said it should go away in a few weeks or she will take it off. He didn’t even whimper when she did it!
The clicking in his front leg is nothing to worry about (big relief here) - she said some dogs (just like people) have less fluid in their joints.
She was VERY impressed with his teeth; said the cow bones must be doing the trick. She said he could keep chewing on the bones, but cautioned me about rawhides, they are FULL OF FAT. (he doesn’t get them anyway, just wanted to let you guys know about the fat)
Overall he is very healthy and in her words “You can tell he has a happy home”. Awwwwwwww

congrats on a good check up rocky. Too bad for the diet thing though. I am doing great at 8.3 pounds and I can eat your left overs for you. Mom says I am such a skinny mini anyways. Sasha.

Wow Rocky sure doesn’t look that big in his videos. What about switching him to Chicken Soup Light? Or hve you already tried that?
I agree with Ruth - hope he has better luck than me trying to lose weight.

Daisy is on Purina OM and she loves it. She has not lost many pounds on it but she is on it because of her low activity level(because of her back issues). I guess she may always be on it. She eats one can per day. I am curious to see what quantity they tell you to feed Rocky as he does not look overweight to me at all. Do you buy it from your vet? We do and it is a little expensive…24 cans for about $40.
