The list is out
The AKC has the list for the 10 most popular breeds in America. It goes like this:
10 Bulldog 9 Shih Tzu 8 Poodle 7 DACHSHUND 6 Boxer 5 Beagle 4 Golden Retriever 3 German Shepard 2 Yorkshire Terrier and #1 is Labrador Retriever.
I am appauled! Here we have been working our little human heinies off for our babies to TOTW and we get SEVEN???? To quote Dean Jones in “The Ugly Dachshund” : “ONWARD and UPWARDS!” Of course, I think our little buddies get the shaft. At least they can take comfort that WE love em! How could we not??? After all, look at em…look at those cute little faces!! Pashaw! What do THEY know??

Maybe they only count each house once? So all our mulitple owners don’t get credit for all their gorgeous furbabies!!

Can we help it if other people aren’t as smart and dog savvy as we are???

That’s a lot better than on our side of the Pond….. Mini smooths, like me, come in at number 31!!!! Can you believe it? Mind you, it doesn’t help that they split us dachsies into 2 sizes and 3 coat types. If we were all ‘lumped together’ we would be much higher up the list, wouldn’t we?

Annabel here …. the way I look at it, us dachshunds are only #7 on the list because we are VERY VERY particular about just who we will agree to live with!
Remember it’s not just ANY hooman who is qualified to be a doxie parent!
Just my not-so-humble opinion!
