I had a kitty who had bright red blood in his stool once. They vet told me it wasn't the same as a human having blood - in other words, I needed to calm down! :-) They said it could be a scrape inside his intestines(close to the anus since it was red) or sometimes cats will bleed like that if they get extremely stressed. He had just had a fecal exam done the day before, so it could've been either with him. 

I have read similar things about dogs, so hopefully its nothing major. My kitty's bleeding stopped within a day I think. 

Definitely find a vet you are comfortable with (and that is NICE!).</description>
