19th Century Dachshund Painting

This painting by Ludwig Voltz is called “Dachshunds at Play.” But if you look closely, it appears they’ve pulled out the contents of someone’s hunting bag. I think it should be called “Naughty Dachshunds.” So sweet, and such classic Doxie behavior. It’s one of 27 paintings included in the William Secord Gallery Exhibition next week in NYC.

Read more on my blog Dog Art Today (scroll down to see this painting there.) Enjoy!

Hmmm I see a trip into Manhattan might be in order!
There is always a great show of dog art just before the Westminster Dog Show.
Thanks for the heads up Moira.

There’s also a dog art auction at Bonhams. I didn’t put any of the Dachshund items on my site, but there are 3. Click on the link to Bonhams and search for Dachshund on their site. Pretty cute painting with puppies….

Would love to hear about either event if you go. Feel free to email me or comment on my blog. I’ll check in here too. I live in L.A. too far. But will make it there some day.
