Ali is OK !!!!!!

Today was the first I could get back to the computer. I could not even think with Ali not here. She had Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis or HGE.
She spent 3 days at the regular Vet, 2 nights at the Emergency Vet hooked up to IV’s. Apparently the problem is common in Dachshunds, Schnauzers. and Poodles. She is home now and back to her old tricks.
Just in case - I awoke to find blood and diarrhea all over the house. She was walking around with blood dripping from her bottom. I was panicked - went in the sweats I slept in, hadn’t even brushed my teeth, grabbed her and sped to the Vet. She said it usually subsides in 1-3 days. If they get too dehydrated and they cannot keep their fluids up and their blood count down they can die. No cause known. It just starts very suddenly and can be fatal in a few hours.
I could feel her slipping away. She was getting cold - I mean she felt cold and you know dachsies and being cold, short of breath, kept swallowing, her gums were dry and sticky and she kept bleeding and vomiting. She didn’t even care what anyone was doing to her.
Anyway, it is all over now. They say it is not likely to come back.
I am so very very thankful for all the prayers and thoughts sent her way. Thank you ever so much. That really warms my heart. Thank you.

So thankful that little Ali is going to be ok!
What an awful scare she gave her mommy!!

Personal grooming takes a back seat when one of our babies needs to be rushed to the vet.
Good for you for putting her first and getting her there ASAP!!

Yippee Ali, you and your family are strong.

So glad you are feeling better as that was very scary.
