Two weenies in a lap
Two weenies in a lap is the best thing!!
I wish I could’ve taken a picture of Cali and Cooper last night. They (well, mostly Cooper) finally decided that its okay for both of them to be in my lap now. Cali likes to take a toy and just squeak it or chew off its extremities
Cooper still likes to play play play, so we play fetch or tug of war while Cali chews.
Last night they were both in my lap, but Cali was kind of off to the side (Cooper insists on having the “better” spot).. Cooper had just laid across the arm of the chair and she decided to come a little closer. She sniffed his butt for a second and then decided it looked like a nice pillow! She laid her little head right on him. It was so cute! Cooper turned around and saw that it was her there and jumped up really quick!
Its so cool to see her learning to play with toys more from him or learning to get excited about going outside. I can tell she takes clues from him. So now I’m hoping that she can teach him to be a sibling. She is used to being around lots of other doggies, and from what I know the breeder we got her from pairs up one male and one female in a run. Hopefully as they get more comfortable with each other, she’ll make him see that snuggling with a sister can be the best time of the day!
In other news, Cali actually ate at the same time as Cooper last night! She is used to free feeding so I was putting her food in her crate with her in the mornings when I left. She didn’t really care to eat at night. Last night I put Cooper in his room with his food and she followed him in there. He growled at her for trying to eat his food (I told him “NO!”), but then I took her to the kitchen and fed her too. She ate it all!
She was eating this morning when I left as well (in her crate). She’s catching on really quick!
The exercise pens that I ordered for Cali and Cooper came in today. I hope they will like their new setup. I plan to put them both in our sun room in their own exercise pens. I’m hoping that will make them feel not so alone during the day and also let them get used to having each other around.
I’m really happy with Cali’s progress so far

I’m so happy for you! I wish more people understood how rewarding it is to adopt an older Doxie and watch him/her blossom in a good home.

It sounds like everyone is getting along famously Christin!
You are such a good mommy that I know Cali will be so happy with you and be such a great doxie buddy to Cooper.

I’m so glad it is going so well. The jockeying for position on mom’s lap never seems to end. Here it means who ever is closest to Moms face. Even if that means on the back of the couch wrapped around your neck. Sweet always wins LOL.
