Welcome to the HDB!!
Is your doxie neutered? If not, that could be the cause of not being able to restrain from peeing.

Also, he will need to pee as soon as he gets out of his crate after being in it for hours, so don't pet him or get him excited when you first get home from work. He probably has to pee pretty bad, and if you get him the least bit excited by petting him, he will pee.

Just act calm and take him directly of of his crate when you get home and outside to relieve himself.

Once he has peed, etc. you can praise him and pet him! A treat won't hurt either!
