Today i put Oscar in his therapy dog vest and took him to the St Patricks Day parade with me and my parents. He did awsome there! We were standing on the sidewalk and we had so many kids and people come up to us and ask to pet Oscar and he just loved every minute of it. We also had a lady sitting beside us ask if she could take his picture. oscar saw the camera pointed in his direction and he looked straight at it and posed lol. I cant tell you the number of people who had a smile on their faces as they walked by seeing Oscar standing there wagging his tail. Also throughout the entire parade nothing fazed him. There were cars honking weird horns in the parade, people blowing whistles, bagpipes playing, drums playing etc. There were a few other dogs attending the parade I saw but the 2 others I could see were both stressing out with all the noise going on and Oscar was just standing there unfazed. They also shot off a cannon type thing that made a loud BOOM! And Oscar didnt flench..he’s such a good boy. Then afterwards we were on our way home and my mom wanted to stop at the daycare center thats opening up this week which she’s going to work for. I asked the lady if I could someday bring Oscar for a Therapy Dog visit and I told her about him. Turns out she has 2 dachshunds of her own and said she wanted to see him. So since he was sitting in the car I brought him in for her. He went through his routine of tricks to show off for her and sat there and looked cute for her to pet him. She was very impressed with him and told me she wished her doxies were like Oscar. She said he was welcome to visit anytime, and kept telling me what a wonderful dog he is. I was so proud of my boy today he did awsome and was a good ambassador for the breed.
