You know I debated about responding to this video. I did not mean to make anyone feel bad. I too thought it was cute at first but then the more I looked and then read the comments, I thought maybe she is having trouble. Please don't let me scare you from posting. Sometimes I have a big mouth. After I looked at the others I thought maybe she is in trouble. Remember that someone was standing right there with the camera who knows the dog best. Maybe the little one always swims like this. I know everyone here has doxies and would feel terrible. Please - just me and my big mouth.

I feel terrible, just terrible for not noticing this and posting the link. I deeply apologize if I hurt someone; please know that I would never condone these kinds of videos and simply made a mistake, as I did not read any of the comments regarding this video. It brings tears to my eyes just to think that the little dog was drowning.

There is a lot of controversy over this video. Yes he does look like an otter but he does not have a tail like an otter. If you read the comments under the video you will see conflicting opinions. I feel the dog is struggling. Every time she rolls over she puts her nose up for air. If you look at the many other videos of swimming dachsies there is a huge difference. I am not being critical of you - just noticed the controversy. I know of a couple of dogs that drowned so I probably fall on the side of those who think the dog should have a life jacket on and only be near water when supervised. It would be interesting to know if this dog ever goes in the water willingly again. That would be the deciding factor. Is the dog afraid or OK.......Of course I live in Phoenix where we have had far too many drownings and heat deaths - kids and dogs. It only takes a few minutes to lose a life.
