Oscar’s obedience trial

Well we did ok at our obedience trial today. Oscar did really good on the onleash part. His onleash heeling was alot better then last year. The off leash heeling though he caught a scent and followed that instead. The recall he did awsome on too, last year he got coming to me too fast and blew right by me but this time he stopped in front of me like he was supposed to and finished correctly. For the long sit he did awsome stayed put where he was supposed to but for the long down he ended up getting up and he put his nose to the ground and followed the exact area where I had walked to the other side of the ring. So we didnt qualify today, but this was only our second show so we still did good. Also we stuck around afterwards to watch conformation and agility. It was so funny we were eating lunch by where the poodles were showing and Oscar was setting on my lap and for some reason a red poodle caught his eye, I’ve never seen him so interested in a dog he watched that dog go all the way around the ring every time it went around, and he had people cracking up because of how interested he was. We also watched the doxies show and they had a lot of beautiful ones. They had a red longhair about the size of Oscar that was georgous. Overall we had a great time and I’m proud of Oscar, but he’s worn out from our days he’s sleeping. Heres some pictures from the show, we couldnt use flash inside so some of the pictures are blurry…

Oscar’s kind of hard to see in this picture, he’s sitting beside the golden retriever…he was the smallest dog in the group

Congradulations Oscar!!! Job well done!! Mom used to show shelties in obedience and she says it is a lot of hard work. I overheard mom telling dad about some classes starting up soon, I reminded mom that I’m NOT a sheltie but mom just smiled! Tell me Oscar, did you get cheese after your performance?

    Your Pal,
    Rusty

The smallest dog in the bunch but no doubt he stole the show!

Oscar you are such a good boy - I am sure there was LOTS of cheese involved!

Keep up the good work sweetie!

Yay Oscar, you did awesome! I don’t know if there would be any on or off lead heeling if there wasn’t food involved.

Are you in Iowa?! There was a show this weekend in Amana and your pictures look just like the location! If it was, I was going to go this weekend and didn’t make it. I should have gone!
