Another day at the humane society…
Another story to tell…oh dear.
Well let me introduce my “volunteer” work. I help people when they need help, i socialize cats, i play with dogs, and i walk ‘em. Sounds so simple! :/ I got there this morning to get in a few hours before having to do my last minute shopping for Odus. This guy tells me that he needs 3 main dogs walked first; Boogie (sheperd mix), Lucky (lab mix), and Ja’s Engle (greyhound). Now mind you, I am 4′ 11″ of woman and I weigh a whopping 115 lbs so basically most of these dogs can push me around. But I tried to get into my Cesar Millan mode and not let that affect me. So I took Boogie out first. I decided “Hey big dog. Let me run with him to get more exercise for him and me.” Well he was a great little companion! Lovable and didn’t pull my butt all around the parking lot. He was great…until he bit me :C. I was running with him when he suddenly goes up ahead and turns around, runs towards me and bites me in my inner thigh…NEAR a place that God only meant to be treated nicely!!! I panicked!! But then I decided that I wasn’t gonna let some dog push me around. Don’t get me wrong I love animals. But its the difference between causing him a little discomfort compared to me getting a chunk of my leg chewed on. So i grabbed is head and excess skin/fur and pushed him back and yelled ‘NO!” and (The AUDACITY) he lunged at my leg again and got me so i pushed him back again and yelled even louder “NO!!” Then I got control of his leash and held him just far enough from my leg so he couldn’t reach it. So finally he calmed down and i took him back in. I have been bitten by dogs before but I have never felt that fear I felt today. Lucky I snapped out of it and stood my ground.
Then I went into a kennel with a chihuahua, a lab puppy, and a terrier. Needless to say the terrier nips so much that he was able to grab a piece of my skin and pull down, leaving me with a puncture wound on my arm and a bruise
Even after all this abuse I know the dogs are not to blame. I may have sent out a signal to Boogie that caused him to bite. And with the terrier, well he loves to teethed on people. But when I discipline him, he doesn’t bite. As for the Lab puppy and his teething…well he’s too cute to discipline right now
Thats my story TA DA!

Those puncture wounds HURT! What is their policy on dogs that have bitten people?

Sounds like a rough and enjoyable day! I’m sure even the ones that bit you appreciate you perhaps they just don’t know how to express their feelings properly!
