Ok, Sasha caught….
Let me tell it mommy. Please!
Oh, all right, go.

I was outside a few minutes ago searching for the perfect place to go well you know. And I caught a different kind of sent in some tall grass by the flower barrells. So I started sniffing like crazy zeroing in on the unusual smell. And I practically was right on top of this most delicious looking creature. When it moved, I had to protect my mommy so I chased it. It took flight, and I nipped just the back tail feathers and it landed not too far away after my jump and nip technic so now the chase was on. It took flight again and I jumped and missed, but did a zig zag around to catch it as it was disorentanted on which way to fly. I caught it, but not a good grip so I pounched one paw on it, and it got away over to my sand box. I ran fast, but I knew if it got airborne again there was no way to catch it. Doxies can’t fly unfortantly. So I did a quick u-turn in my sand box and the dust from the sand shot up and the bird came crashing down in a cloud of dust. Now, the sand box is my domain. I had it cornered and dusted one more time by rolling it a good one just for safe measure. Meanwhile, Mommy is like all upset and telling me to stop. Don’t she know it invades are turf and smells delecious. I had it’s head gently in my mouth and decided to play with it a little before the final kill. I let it go it fluttered faintly, and I pounced again. I had one wing in my mouth and was showing mommy and prancing around while she was trying to get it a way from me. Mom told me in a stern (your going to be in big trouble voice) to drop it, and so I did. Then, she tried to pick it up saying stuff like it is just a baby-hey if it could fly it isn’t helpless. I pounced again, but she stopped my muzzle from grabbing it. She picked up the bird and can you believe she put it over the fence so I couldn’t get it. How dare her. Well, I was so proud of my hunting abilities I preceded to stalk everything with wings and totally for got about going potty. Oh, well. I loves to hunt.

All right, now my turn. All I can say is poor little sparrow. It look like it was just learning to fend for its self and my doxie attacks it. It was still alive when I put it by our composting pile. The pile is fenced and the little sparrow blended well with the dead grass clippings so hopefully it survives. Sasha gave it a pretty good fright, but I didn’t see anything broken or bleeding and if it can cough out all the sand it probably got in it. Well, Hopefully. I had mixed emotions part of me loved to see Sasha’s hunting skills in action cause in a wierd way it is a beautiful thing the grace, agility, the thinking skills, etc. It was amazing how much is pure instinct. Then, the other part of me didn’t want to watch a young bird die. Then, I thought about her trying to eat it and the bones splintering and her safety. Oh, well, an eventfull night and perhaps a hint of the mighty huntress to come.

Oh my goodness I know what you mean! Pepper tortures frogs on a regular basis and plays with them until their practically dead! I’m sure it was super fun for Sasha, not so fun for mommy though!

Poor birdie! I’m glad you managed to rescue him.

Sasha must have gotten Gretel’s share of the hunting instinct as well as her own; birds and squirrels can walk right in front of us and she won’t even look at them. I’ve caught her grooming our elderly guinea pig.

Way to go Sasha! I’m the hunter in our family and I caught a birdie once, too. Mommy made me let it go, too. I don’t think I hurt it, I just wanted to show mommy. She was proud of me but said it was only a baby robin and it’s mommy and daddy were making lots of noise
