Could use some pawyers
Well Ruger was in the vet today. He had the pudding butt yesterday and today I thought he was ok til he came back from going potty after he ate breakfast. He sat on the back step and when he ran off there was blood where he had been sitting. I of course panicked. We arent talking just a little, it was quite a bit. I took him to the vet who was a COMPLETE jerk. Ruger HATED him and Ruger loves everyone. Anyway not our regular vet wont have to see him again. They tested him or Giardia and it was negative. They arent sure what exactly is causing it. But they gave him an anti-diarreah and and intestinal antibiotic, and he is on chicken and rice for a few days. I know he is strong and will heal but a few extra pawyers couldnt hurt. Besides it feels better tell all of you on here. You get it! Thanks!

Please please watch him closely. I almost lost my Ali from Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis. In plain language Bloody Diarrhea. I had a long post about it when it happened. You can lose a dog in 24 hours from dehydration if not treated. Watch for anymore bleeding, nausea or vomiting, his gums should be pink and wet. Sticky pale gums can indicate dehydration. This is most common in Poodles, Schnauzers and Dachsies. Ali was in the hospital 3 days and 2 nights on IV fluids.
Just a warning. I awoke to pudding and blood all over the house on beige carpet. There was no mistaking the blood. They diagnose it primarily from history and a blood count or PCC. Just to let you know. I have had dachsies for 20 years and had never heard of this. Good luck and out thoughts are with you.
