Help with new puppy!
Hi again! First I want to thank everyone for the advice on owning two doxies compared to one. We made the decision to add another member to the family-a 10 week old male that my hubby named “Chip”. Everything had been going good all week, we got him last friday, until 3 days ago. For some unknown reason he has started peeing only on Sweetie’s (our other doxie) bed. We are crate training him the same way we did our female and for the most part he does great! But, when left alone for even a minute he will go over and pee on the dog bed or on her crate blanket. He doesn’t pee in his own crate, only on the bed or blankets that sweetie lays on the most. I can’t figure out why!! She is 99.9% housebroken and has NEVER peed in her crate since we first got her!! So I know that it isn’t because it smells like pee. Also, he has only peed in his own crate once and that was the first nite we got him-I am a hard sleeper and I didn’t wake up in time to get him outside. Any ideas as to why and what to do would be great!! Also, I would like to post a couple of pics of them on here but it won’t let me for some reason? So once I get that figured out I will! Hi Stacy! First of all, congratulations on your new puppy, how adorable!I can´t wait to see pics! I think he´s peeing because he´s marking his territory, trying to prove who the alfa male is! Now, I cant be sure about this but a lot of the other members have tons of experience and knowledge. I wish I could help you out a bit more! I can recommend a good book though (I don´t know if these are your first doxies?) called “Dachshunds for Dummies” which you can probably get at Barnes and Noble or Amazon.com. Good luck!!

Congrats on your new addition!
I agree with Regina.
Your new pup is just being a dog and putting his scent on everything by trying to cover Sweetie’s scent with his.
He may outgrow this especially once he is neutered.
Hopefully, other members with multiple dogs, who have had the same problem can enlighten you on how to keep it from happening.

I thought that may have been what he was doing but wasn’t sure considering he is so young. (I thought they didn’t do that till they were at least a little older
!) And yes, these are my first doxies. We have always owned other kinds of dogs-mostly good ol’ mutt pups- but never a doxie until we got sweetie. Dontcha love their personality!!! Thank you again for your help, hopefully you are right and once we get him nuetered he will stop! Stacy

Looks like you might have a dominant male on your hands. I’m sure it will stop once they have worked out the hierarchy amongst themselves.
I’m not sure if this is a doxie thing, but my female lady went through a stage of peeing in her bed when I wasn’t paying enough attention to her! One day I caught her gave her a big ‘NO!’ and put her straight outside. She seemed to realize this was very bad behavior and hasn’t done it since
