Hi I’m New to the Hotdog Blog!
Hi my name is Amanda and I am 19 almost 20 years old. My mother Becca has been raising dachshunds for a little over 16 years now. So I have always had a dachshund in my life. I have never owned another dog but a dachshund and like my mom I am in love with the breed. My first dachshund that was my own was Jasmine she was a dapple smooth. My mom soon decided that raising dapples was not for her with their many health problems. So I gave my Jasmine to my best friend so that I would still be able to see her and she could have the one on one attention she deserved and so it would be fair to her since she wasn’t going to be having puppies any more not to be around other mommy dogs. It was hard to do but I got to see her everyday and she was really happy living with my friend and her grandparents who spoiled her rotten
As I grew up I got older and more responsible to take care of a dog on my own so my mom and dad decide it would be time to get me a dog again. My mom heard about this lady who wanted to place her two dogs. When we got there it was clear to all of us that both of these dogs had been badly neglected and abused. The male was morbidly obese and the female was skin and bones. The reasoning for this was because they free fed there dogs and the male would eat it all leaving the female with nothing. My mom and dad had only wanted to get the female for me but after seeing both of the dogs they knew they had to get them out of there. The lady also bragged that the dogs could stay in there crate for 8 hours without food or water and not bark. My parents knew they needed to buy both the dogs. They were both black & tans and around 2 years old the lady wanted $600 for them both. My mom without hesitating paid and took the dogs. The male we walked everyday he lost 12 lbs and then we placed him in a good home.
Sammy was her name and I changed it to Zoie. Zoie was very shy and scared. I would feed her and she would take the food and hide it because she thought I wasn’t going to feed her again and then at least she would have the hidden food. She wouldn’t let me pick her up and if I made any sudden movements she would curl up or run away. She was so scared that I was going to hit her because she was bad. I worked so hard for her to trust me it took several years before she realized that I loved her and that nothing was wrong with her she was a good dog but just in a bad situation. She now enjoys the little things that most dogs take for granted like toys and treats she never had that before. I love her so much she is now 7 years old. When she was 5 I decided that I wanted her to have one litter I thought that it would teach her a lesson and I always wanted to have a piece of her. So I bred her to Parker her delivery went fine she had four puppies. Two chocolate & tan boys (one long-haired one smooth) and two black & tans girls (one long-haired one smooth). I got her spayed because I only wanted her to have one litter.
I kept the long-haired black & tan female because she looked just like my Zoie and I named her Lola. Zoie was so happy to have a play mate in her daughter Lola. Zoie now almost 8 (July) and Lola who turned 2 in November both sleep with me. They are both my best friends and I couldn’t live without them. Lola just had her first litter. I wasn’t going to breed her at all but then I saw how good she was around other puppies and I didn’t want to deny her the opportunity because I knew she would make a wonderful mother and I knew she would have gorgeous babies. I know where Lola’s brothers and sister is. They come back and have play dates with Lola. Her brother Aras and her are very close. Her sister Mandy and brother Chino both went to children for Christmas. I have lots of pictures of them. It is so great to see.
Lola had one boy I call him Baby Bear. He is the cutest puppy. I wish I could keep him but I have my hands full with his mother and grandmother. So I am in the process of trying to find the perfect home for him. Someone who will play with him, rub his belly, and bring him back for visits or at least send pictures. I love him very much and so does Lola. Just the other day he had a play date with Grandma Zoie I took lots of pictures it was very cute. I have probably over 3,000 pictures of Lola, Baby Bear, and Zoie.
Anyway that is the story of my two dogs Lola and Zoie. My mom and dad raise dachshunds they have 6 dogs. So I will blog about them another time.
Your New Friends,
