I would check with your vet right away and see what he has to say about it and have him explain the whole process to you from now until the pups would be born so you know what you would be getting into and what it entails.

As some have posted if you feel this is not a good thing for you right now (having cuddly puppies aside) there are some options for you and for Holly your vet can perform to prevent this litter, but you have to decide fairly quickly.

What ever you decide there are seasoned doxie owners here who have offered their expertise and advise if you need it.

Having puppies is a very serious decision. There are way too many accidental puppies in this world. Holly could have complications and require a C-section. This is VERY expensive. I have to agree with TJ. Melissa, not only to you have to worry about Holly having difficulties, are you prepared to stay with her 24-7 from day 59 to the day she gives birth. Or having someone resposible enough to do so. C-Section no matter the time of day is VERY expencive. Then you have to worry about vet care for the litter. It is NOT easy to take care of a litter of pups, granted Mama does most of the work for the first few weeks, but you have bedding to change and wash, Mama will have midnight accidents, especailly if she eats a placenta, and i am not talking just a little turd I am talking major liquid that smells to high heaven. Puppies are fun and they are cute but they are alot of work especially when Mama has weaned them and you get to take care of it ALL!! I would suggest you keep them apart, and hope that she isnt. If she is, talk with your vet to have ALL your questions answered, and have a plan ready in case something goes wrong. I was lucky and have my Rosie who was AMAZING at whelpng and at being a mother. But you also take the risk of Holly wanting nothing to do with pups, which can and does happen. I will be here if you need me. But I think you need to rethink it all. I also wanted to ask, how is thier structure, temprament, drives, health? Those are just a few things to consider BEFORE you even attempt to breed. Also do you have good homes lined up for these pups? I read for two years about breeding and whelping, before I bred Matilda, and then joined here thinking i knew alot, when in fact I hadnt even scratched the surface. I still learn something new all the time. Alot of the breeders who were regulars on here at that time have moved on. but I will help out as much as I can. i just ask that you seriously rethink this.
