Kizzie got fixed

This past Wednesday Kizzie was spayed. She was very groggy after the surgery and slept a lot but she did fine. No stitches or staples they used a skin glue. I’m really happy to have gotten that over with. The doctor said for her to take it easy for the next 10 days. I have a concern though, my mother in law’s dog (west highland terrier) was spayed and her dog gained a TON of weight. I mean this dog went from being maybe 15 pounds to being probably 30 pounds or more after she was spayed, so I’m a little concerned about her gaining weight.

I’m sure Kizzie will be fine!Just watch her diet.Abbey weighed 14lbs when she was spayed and she has not gained any at all!Best wishes to Kizzie!

I think spaying may effect the metabolism or hormones (of course) so you may need to cut down a bit on the volumn of food for your Kizzie. Nice daily walks (after she has healed) really help keep your dog trim in in good shape.

So glad to hear that Kizzie is healing well! If she does gain weight, change her to lite food.
All of my doxies tend to gain a little weight in the winter, so I feed them Chicken Soup Lite in the winter and change back in the spring to regular.
How do you like the skin glue? Sounds like it would be alot more comfortable than stitches or staples.
Please keep us updated on Kizzie, we will keep her in our puppy prayers for a speedy recovery!
