Hello everyone!!

Okay so my boyfriend and I are CONSIDERING getting Tootsie a baby doxie brother!!! I am SO EXCITED however my boyfriend is a tad hesitant. He is afraid 2 dachshunds will be too hard to handle. He wanted me to do some research on here to find out feedback on ppl who have 2 or more dachshunds, and if they get along? Is it more work than one thinks? I think it’ll be a great thing for Tootsie and all I need is to convince my bf of this!!! I am looking into a male light cream smooth coat and he is ADORABLE!! I REALLY want him! I think he will be a great playmate for my little Tootsie girl and I need some convincing for my bday!! So anyone who has any positive feedback I could report back to the bf would be FABULOUS!! If I could-I’d have 5 doxies but I know thats pushing it!!! I think 2 will be PUUUUUUUUUURFECT!

I have 3 doxies and they all get along great. I had just 2 for 2 years, and then I got Harley. I have to say that 2 were a lot easier to travel with than 3, but I wouldn’t give up Harley for the world. Two doxies are ideal. They form a bond with each other and always have someone to play with. I don’t think any dog should be an “only child”. JMHO, tho. So, I hope you convince your
BF that you NEED a playmate for Tootsie.

I have ten, they all live indoors and they all love each other! I can not even imagine only two!! ha ha

  3. Comment by Clara:

I think Tootsie should have a playmate!
We got Izzy so Mica could have a buddy her size. They get along great!

  4. Comment by Lisa/D-PAK:

I have 4 and they all get along GREAT !! Having a second is really no more work, especially after the second is potty trained. I really did not notice a difference at all, except of course, all the extra unconditional doxie LOVE !!
Good Luck… hope Tootsie can get a baby brother !!

    I have 10 doxies…need I say more? LOL
But, let me say, don’t just look for color, look for conformation, temperment and health issues in his history.
Hope you get him! Keep us posted!

I have 2 a boy and a girl….Boogey and Kizzie, they get along great. I would take Tootsie with you when you decide to get him. Good luck!!!!!

Well there are 4 of us in this house and we have banded togeather and have got “Pal” pritty well trained, I hate to say this as I am a mail Doxie but I think you should do a little snipping so there are not any extra little ones…
Hop[e you get Tootsie a friend not a boyfriend.. LOL
    BUDDY,LUCY,ROCKO,RUNNER & “Pal”

We have 2 dachshunds and they are 2 days apart in age, both females. We got them from the breeder at the same time and they LOVE one another. They play fight too. I don’t think they could survive without each other. I have no experience on bringing in a new doxie with one who’s been the “only” doxie for a while, but it seems others haven’t had a problem with that.

  9. Comment by Jennifer:

I don’t have 2 doxies, but I have 2 dogs. A doxie and a standard poodle. Even with the size difference, they are best friends! I had just the poodle for almost 9 years and ever since i got my doxie, Lucy, he has been acting like a puppy again! Definitely get another one!!!!! They will be inseparable!

  10. Comment by Pepper's Gang:

I have four small dogs in the house. Three doxies (two are rescues)and one rescued Papillon.

All four small dogs get along….even when I bring a new one home (to rehome) they have such great, loving personalities….never had a problem. They even get along with our two big fat housecats and our yellow Labs.

  11. Comment by Kendra:

I have four!! Well 8 if you count the puppies! I want to get a new doxie but hubby has put his foot down. Maybe I can convince him!! All of mine get along great. They missed Rosie terribly when she had her puppies. they would lay by the door and wait to see if she would come out. I couldnt imagine being back at only one!! THey keep each other company and play time is great. They have someone to snuggle with all the time. At this minute mine are all snuggled up on the floor at my feet. a big ball of doxie fluff! Couldn’t get any better, well it could if i could get ONE more!! LOL!!

we have two. scraps thought he was the mommy when we brought scout home and he has been “mommy” for her ever since. they get along beautifully even though he thinks she’s defective for her rooing and her mad doxie dashes for no reason.

  13. Comment by Sassy Sasha:

I am the voice of the minority here. Never had more than one doxie so take that into consideration too. Sasha is enough doxie for me at one time. She has an adopted non-doxie brother so she has companionship, but I just can’t imagine having two Sasha’s in the house. That would be insane. I guess you have to think of the temperment of your dog, and the time/resources you have to devote to another one.

  14. Comment by Buffy:

I have two beautiful boys! getting the second one was the best decision ever. They wear each other out and they stick up for each other at the dog park! good luck!

  15. Comment by KK2Doxies:

We got a second doxie a little over a month ago. Shorty and Franklin love each other. They wrestle a lot, and we have to keep an eye on them since Franklin is so much smaller than Shorty for now. When one is in the crate, they kiss each other through the bars. At the moment, it’s a little challenging, but it will get easier as Franklin gets older. I hope you get your new baby!

  16. Comment by moodyblonde:

I have 2 also, Smokey and Anna. They are very closely bonded, and no more work than one. I recommend getting another one.

  17. Comment by DachshundMama:

I have 11 Dachshunds…ages 6yrs-3mos. Love them dearly…can’t imagine life with just one or even two anymore…LOL

  18. Comment by Clan Haggart:

One more makes no difference at all, it gives the first one some company and a play mate too.

I have 3 and plan on going up to 5 or 6 with pups I hope to produce one day.

Well today I bought number 12. An even dozen of weinies running around my house……..I love every minute of it! Every one has a different personality and everone needs your attention at some point in the day. I tell them, its not your turn right now, when someone else is getting my attention! They are my children now that my 2 legged children have grown and left the nest. I cannot imagine being without any of my doxies….I am semi retired and have the rest of my life to spend with my 4 legged fur children! I will be posting pictures of little Gabby in a few weeks, when I get her, she is just 6 weeks old right now.

  20. Comment by fivedoxies:

We have five Doxies ages 2,9,10,12 & 18. They all get along fine. It seems that some of them like certain other ones more. The ones that are not real close are quite tolerant of the others.
Our youngest one was sort of an “accident” as we fostered him for the local rescue shelter then got attached to him.
