Taking another step today

I think I have took another step today. I have washed duchesses favorite blankets, they smell nice and fresh just the way she loved them, and packed them up. I even took up her dishes. I know it’s silly, I just couldn’t bring myself to do a final let go. So today is the day. Her lil bed that she never uses unless she was giving me the “silent treatment”, is still in the living room. I may even pack that up today. I guess we should just throw it away, but packing it us is a big step for me. I still think I hear her come get me off the bed and take me out to pee pee sound.
We had rice last night and the first thing I thought of was, let me save Duchess a little bit of this…..oops.
Ok, it is official, I am crazy!! Just missing my baby, but doing better. Yesterday was a week.

You are not crazy Sherry, you love your Duchess and I am sure she loves you. Take it slow and do what you can… and one day… when you are ready maybe you will unpack those things for another Doxie. We are here for you !!

Sherry, my heart aches for you. I know how much you loved Duchess. You have made a big step today. Every day will get easier. I know you probably don’t believe that right now. You have lost your baby and that is a huge loss. I think we have all been there. It really sucks!

Take one day at a time. You still have your wonderful memories of your time together. That, you can never lose.

Sherry, I truly have not stopped thinking about you. I don’t know if it is because my girl is also a smooth red or just because I love my baby with all my heart and am terrified of the day I’ll loose her. You have been in my thoughts constantly and I hope the pain lessens.

I have looked at your pics of sweet Duchess and know that she is irreplaceable; I have tears just thinking about what you must be going through. Just be strong and eventually things will get better.

    Wishing you all the best

Aww Sherry, I can only imagine how hard this all must be for you. Give yourself plenty of time to grieve. I am sure memories of her will pop up when you least expect them to but try to think of them as coming to you because Duchess wanted them to.

Bless you and sweet Duchess may she rest in peace.

    Laura

Our Daisy has been gone for 2 years and not a day goes by that I don’t think of her. We lost her the same way you lost Duchess except Daisy had the back surgery and lost the fight a few days later due to complications with the surgery. We have a shadow box up on the wall in our living room with her picture in it and some of her things. Her urn sits on our fireplace mantel and her toys are all still her in box on the shelf. You will never quit hurting over your loss but it will get better. As time goes by you will start remembering just the good things and smile when you think of her.

I dread the day I am in your shoes Sherry and I pray that the pain you feel in your heart for your loss of Duchess gets less and less each day.

Hold onto anything that makes you feel better and just remember all the good memories of her when you start to feel sad.

I pray that eventually one day you will be able to let another doxie who needs a loving home into your life.

    Bette and Baxter

Sherry - It is brave to wash and store her things!
We all know how hard it is. Give yourself a big hug from me and my Pack! Ruth, Daisy and Zippy

    Sherry,
You are doing wonderful, I am impressed by your strength. I think what you are doing is healing, but if you dont want to do something like put up the bed then dont! You are amazing. My prayers are with you during this time. And who knows maybe someday you will be ready for another doxie. It is perfectly normal to think of things that you normally do with her. I did the same thing with my Katie girl.If you ever need to talk you can PM me or call I am in the book!

    Kendra

    Oh Sherry your not crazy!!
You just get so use to having the little things around that it’s hard not to think of them! I’ve done the same before, when my black lab passed,I would come home from work and call”Buddy”…then I remembered,OOPPPS!

  12. Comment by Kimmie M:

Sherry you aren’t crazy at all! It is really hard to deal with. You are coping with a horrible loss that anyone with a heart would cry about. Don’t do anything you aren’t ready for. Just keep taking it one day at a time. We will keep you in our prayers.

  13. Comment by Vanessa:

I know how you feel. I missed my Ginger after she was put to sleep. I missed her the most when I was driving up to the house and came inside and she didn’t come to greet me. You will feel better in time. You’ll have happy memories.
    Vanessa
