The Bestest Holiday…. ever.

Sorry for the delay in posting this, but since my return home, I have been extremely busy and everything is rather hectic, as I am trying to shoe-horn 2 houses worth of ’stuff’ into one. And no….. don’t worry….. the boys are not on the list to be dumped at the tip!

We all still miss Heather very much. She has been a part of my life for over 13.5 years, and was the one who started my love affair with wires. The boys, especially Harry, miss her too, but keeping them ‘busy’ is helping us all.

I arrived at Miami airport after an uneventful but long flight. I have been told that it is always manic there, but I honestly felt that I had landed on the the Planet Zog! Next time I enter the USA, it will NOT be through Miami! Chuck and Danny soon found me and started my ‘education’ into the American-way-of-life by taking me to a ‘Steak and shake’
for refueling. As hosts, Chuck and Danny were wonderful, and they took me to see all the local attractions. The Doxiepets were very welcoming too….. and Kristof and I ‘fell in love’! I was very tempted to kidnap him, but Chuck might have noticed! I finally got to meet Laura (Auntie Doxhoont), who flew down for a few days, and Carmen and Tim, complete with family also made the trip to Palm Beach. Cheryl and her three dachsie girls came to the BBQ as well, so we were a ‘full house’ that evening. It was very special
evening, and lovely to meet all of these HDB friends in person.

My next visit was to Carrie (Moodyblonde) up in Milwaukee. Smokey and Anna are a delight and we all soon settled into a routine. Carrie showed me ‘the sights’, including Miller’s brewery, Geneva Lake, Organ Piper Pizza (the best Pizza… ever!) and City Lounge, the ‘home’ of the ‘3 Dachshunds brewery’ (I wear the T shirt proudly!). I met very many lovely people, including Lisa (D-Pak) and had a great time at my first 4th July party.

I cannot thank Chuck, Danny and Carrie enough for the wonderful time I had in the USA.
It was truly the ‘holiday of a lifetime’….. and I can’t wait to go back and meet more of you next time!!!

Jutta, This is the first time I have been able to post to a blog in awhile. (I don’t know what’s up with this site from time to time!) Anyway, I want to let you know how sorry I was to hear about Heather’s passing. I know you must miss her terribly. I’m also sorry I didn’t get to meet you this time around, but glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit to the US. What surprised you the most about our country?
