My dachshund ate my toe off.
Did anyone else see this? Is this for real?

Mini Dachshund Gnaws Off Diabetic Owner’s Toe
Woman Says She Has No Feeling In Toes
POSTED: 9:22 pm CDT July 3, 2008
ALTON, Ill. — An Illinois woman said her beloved miniature dachshund gnawed off her right big toe while she was asleep.
Linda Floyd told the Alton Telegraph for a story Wednesday that her beloved Roscoe was euthanized because of safety concerns.
The 56-year-old said she has no feeling in her toes because of nerve damage from diabetes. She discovered the toe missing after waking from a nap Monday. She called her daughter, who phoned 911.
A veterinarian said the toe had been bandaged because of a healing hangnail. That might have somehow attracted the dog.

Ugh…This is like that lady whose poodle chewed off her bottom lip while she was in a drug-induced sleep.
I guess if the dachshund was never taught any bite inhibition, and the lady had no feeling or reaction when he was chewing on it, I could probably see that happening. Lord knows they chew up everything else & can chew a rawhyde & other bones apart…….(((shudder))) gives me the heebs just thinking about it.

I just think it’s sad that the poor little guy had to be euthanized. Dachshunds are not sharks! Why on earth would he be attracted to her toe anyway. I agree! WEAR SHOES!

Why would she get the dog put down? If it was me, and I was real worried about infection or it happening again, I’d find my dogs a good home, or better yet, keep my buddies and at night put them in a crate or another room. Idiocracy!!!!

I’m sorry to say but this story is true. I just read the story on the internet. This is the website
They should have tried to find a home. And the woman said she loved him and misses him. What a crock!!!!!This story made me so upset. I would have liked to have seen the toe. LOL
