Lucy had a stroke
My sweet Lucy had a stroke yesterday. It was a mild stroke but has left her weak on her left side. Her face is frozen on that side but she can still blink and has some feeling. She is also weak in her entire left side. She has dementia and numerous other health problems. I am going to have to see how this effects her quality of life in order to do the right thing by my sweet girl.
My two youngest daughters do not remember life without Lucy. She is almost 13 years old. She is the reason that I fell in love with this breed. No one could ever have a more loyal, loving dachshund. She is one of my children and a sister to my girls.
This morning I also got a call that my Aunt Margaret passed away in her sleep. She was diagnosed with lung cancer about a month ago. She died peacefully in her sleep from heart failure. My dad left yesterday to drive from Mississippi to Florida. He made the decision to stop overnight to rest and did not make it there before his sister died.
It is a very sad day in our home.

Oh Tia, I am so, so sorry for the loss of your aunt. I am also so sorry to hear about your Lucy. I know how painful this is.
You all are in our thoughts and prayers.
Love ya, Sherry

Thank you Sherry. My Aunt’s death was really a blessing for her because she died peacefully in her sleep and did not have to suffer the rath of lung cancer. She was 80 years old and had a wonderful life. My biggest concern is for my dad because that is a long hard trip for him and I know he is so sad that he did not get to say goodbye.
Katy is watching Lucy closely today for any changes. I am blessed that I have a vet in our area that has been my dads vet for several years. He can come to the house when the time comes and Lucy can go peacefully in the comfort of her own home with the people who love her, when the time comes.
Thanks again Sherry for your kind words.

Tia, my thoughts are prayers are with you and your family on the loss of your aunt.
My beloved dad died of a rare form of lung cancer 14 years ago this October a few days before my birthday.
I miss him every day.
My heart goes out to you and your girls on seeing your sweet Lucy go through this.
I know she is in loving care with you and your girls and all your other doxies and will cross the Rainbow Bridge with peace and happiness and happy memories when the time comes.

Two blows like this must be so hard to deal with. You and your father will be in my thoughts.

Tia although it may seem hard at the moment, remind yourself that God doesn’t give us more than he knows we can handle. I will pray for your father’s safe trip to Florida with an angel at his side.
Lucy couldn’t be in better hands than Katy’s - she’s proved time and time again to be a most capable nurse.
A big hug from me to you and the girls, Laura

Tia, I am so sorry about your Aunt as well as Lucy. It is going to be a tough time for you and your family but I have faith that you all will come through all your trials. Know that you are in my prayers during this time. Especially for your dad traveling so far with sadness in his heart.

Tia - So sorry about your situation! Sometimes the bad times come in a wave, but we persist. My Feisty had a stroke a couple months ago. She did rebound for a bit - giving us a little “borrowed time” before it became necessary to end her suffering. She was my first dog as an adult. I can relate to your pain - hollar if you need to talk.
Hugs, Ruth and Daisy Mae
