Hello everyone,

This past weekend we went to my mother-in-laws house for a family gathering. She has 2 West Highland Terriers. Well 1 of her dogs the younger female was acting sick, kind of laying around and she had thrown up clear fluid. She is normally a hyper dog. Her eyes looked droopy also. I told her that she might want to get Katie to the vet because she is sick. She told me that she was keeping an eye on her and she was going to take her to the vet first thing in the morning if she didn’t get any better, she told me her other Westie had been acting the same way but was fine. Her niece who works at the vet’s office told her that if things got worse to take her to the emergency vet. Within a few hours Katie passed away. They took her to the emergency vet but it was to late. They tried to bring her back but were unable to. She passed within a few minutes of them getting her there. They don’t know how she got sick or why she died. My mother-in-law who is a dog lover like me is in shock and feeling so guilty that nothing I say makes her feel better. She feels like she let poor Katie down and that she should’ve realized just how sick she really was. She won’t stop crying, and my heart aches for her. As I type this it brings tears to my eyes…… Please pray for her….Her name is Debra.

I cannot even begin to imagine what that must be like for her and you! I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers!

That’s tragic! It is hard to tell what is a passing illness versus something serious. Hang in there - Ruth and Daisy Mae

My heart goes out to your mother-in-law.
    What a tradegy.

It could have been something that no matter how fast she reacted the outcome would have been the same since her Westie passed so quickly.
