Dee, Freddie, Champ & Bailey updates
Some doggie updates from our side of the world
Dee, my 10yr old, doing better. She’s slowly gaining back the weight she lost, and seems to be doing well on her kidney medication. Other than occassional accidents in the middle of the night, all her kidney symptoms seem to have gone- which the vet thinks is a good indication. Our next check up is at the end of the month, so keep your paws crossed for us!
On sad news, we still haven’t found Freddie, the stray mix we rescued and fostered and adopted out (the the guy lost him the same day!) We’ve sent word to the volunteer animal groups as well as the pound, but still no sign of him. I really hope someone else found him and rescued him, he’s really a sweet sweet dog.
I’m not a huge believer in “signs” and whatnots, but I’m really thinking hard about this- We received message from the pound a few days ago that they have a dog there that might be Freddie, so I rushed there hoping to find him. Unfortunately it was a look-alike. So while I was there, I went around to say hi and feed some of the dogs. And it was so sad that most of the dogs just lay in their kennels, they seemed so lifeless
And as I was about to leave, ONE dog got up and went to the kennel door to wag his tail and looked up at me and pleaded for me to take him home.
That one dog happened to be a doxie! I thought maybe I’m not meant to find Freddie that day, maybe I was meant to rescue this adorable doxie. I wasn’t able to (yet!) tho… I still have to get hubby to agree to take on a fourth dog. And with me due in December, and having to keep an eye on Dee and her kidney problems, I’m not sure if it’s the right time. Still, we’re thinking long and hard about it.
Oh! And on great news, Champ won 2nd place in this year’s Great Dog Dash!!! The Great Dog Dash is a charity event organized by the Philippine Animal Welfare Society- it’s a 100ft track where the dogs race to get to their owners quickest. I think Champ was the shortest dog in the medium dogs category! He had a lot of fans and fun!
He won a silver medal, 2 boxes of dog food, and a doggie goody bag! He was so amazing!
And finally, Bailey the beagle, now 10 months old is FINALLY potty trained! Whew! That’s the longest we’ve ever had to pee and potty train any dog!
That’s it from us!
