It’s been a long time

I haven’t been here on THDB in a very long time, not quite sure what happened? I just thought I’d see how everyone is doing, and of course look at all the dachsies I haven’t seen:) My clan is good. Preston was the last pup I got, he’s a full brother to Paisley, he will be a year old next month……time does fly. In case anyone is wondering, I have not had any thoughts on getting another dachsie, I think I’ve finally reached my limit:)
Louie was diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease a few months ago. I have known something was wrong for awhile, he’s just always been bigger, has an enlarged liver, a firm round belly, all classic signs of Cushing’s Disease. People can get this disease as well, and it’s characterized by what they call a ‘moon face’, and they have extra fat in areas such as the neck, abdomen, and face. Louie has the pot belly, and he’s got fatty areas on his body, and I guess an enlarged liver is classic in dogs for this disease. The treatment for this disease is pretty dangerous, but for now he is fine, and if the time should come where he needed treatment I would then decide what is best for him. Cushing’s at it’s worst, he would begin urinating around the house, lose muscle tone, and this would be bad enough he would be unable to walk himself. But right now he’s not showing any of those signs, and I’m hoping he won’t.
Other than that not much else, we did finally get a fence put up. The dogs love it, for the first time ever they can run free in the yard. Marley of course does his typical monitoring of all activities, walking the fence just waiting for something to bark at, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from him:)LOL
Anyway hope everyone is doing well, and just wanted to say hi:))

We are sorry to hear of Louie’s health problems, but hope that he remains as well as he is at the moment.
Are you sure that you have ‘completed’ your dachsie family……?
